The amuzga honey project is an initiative of Grupo Restaurantero Gigante ( GRG )—which operates Restaurantes Toks, Shake Shack, Beer Factory, El Farolito and Panda Express—. The main objective of which is to promote the economic and social development of the Amuzgo communities, while promoting the conservation of biodiversity and supporting sustainable production.
The Amuzga communities are found on the Costa Chica of Guerrero and Oaxaca, in southern Mexico, and have a long tradition of honey production. However, the Middle East Mobile Number List lack of support and competition with imported products have negatively affected the economy of these communities. With the aim of supporting this population, Grupo Restaurantero Gigante decided to implement a project that would allow them to sell high-quality artisanal honey in their restaurants through a fair trade scheme.
Since 2003 , GRG has been working in collaboration with the Amuzga community to produce high-quality honey and market it through its restaurant chains. This was the company's first productive project and it has been very successful. Annually, the Amuzga community produces more than 90 kilograms of honey, of which GRG acquired 26,518 kg in 2022 for its restaurant chains. This volume of production is impressive and is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the community.
